Free Paris: What’s Free This Week (November 21st-27th)

Free This Week in Paris

Star Trek Exhibit (Through November 26th): Did you know that Mr. Spock was an artist? Leonard Nimoy, the actor who played the iconic Star Trek character is one of fifty artists featured in a special exhibit in honor of the 50th anniversary of the first episode of the television series.

Free Contemporary Photography Event (Through November 27th): As part of the event Rencontres parisiennes de la photographie contemporaine, you can enjoy the work of forty photographers who will display their photos at the “marché Dauphine des puces de Saint-Ouen”. The event will be held on Saturdays, Sundays and Mondays from 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Two free workshops at the Ferme de Paris (November 25th):

9:30-12:30: Cook with beets! Learn how to make three simple recipes that include the beet as a central ingredient. Each recipe focuses on a different part of the vegetable: the skin, the flesh and the leaves.

14:00-16:00 Learn the techniques for maintaining a winter vegetable garden.

 Jazz.Dk 2016 (November 24th-26th): Free jazz concerts on three different night at the Maison du Danemark

“Visages de Verdun” (Through November 30th): This year marks the 100-year anniversary of the Battle of Verdun. In honor of the event, the association “Arts, Découvertes et Citoyennetés” is organizing a free exhibit featuring portraits of World War 1 soldiers collected from residents of the 5th arrondissement.

Hermès Hors les Murs (November 18th-26th): This craftsmanship festival offers a rare opportunity to hear from the artisans behind luxury goods leader Hermès. Get a behind-the-scenes look at the making of the quality bags, gloves, silk ties, and jewelry that characterize the French brand.

Monte Le Son Festival (through November 26th): This free hip-hop music festival includes free concerts, workshops and screenings in various locations. See website for complete schedule.

Gail Albert Halaban Photo Exhibit (through Nov. 26th): Free photo exhibit featuring the work of American photographer Gail Albert Halaban. In this series of photographs, Halaban introduces us to the everyday lives of the people of New York and Paris.

Topographies de l’invisible (through November 28th): Free art exhibit featuring the work of one of the greatest modern Spanish painters, Antonio Maya Cortes.

Alimenterre Film Festival (Through November 30th): The Alimenterre Festival is presenting 8 documentaries on the theme of ” Solutions to feed the world”.

30 ans, quels talents ! (Through November 25th): Paris Rendez-Vous, a boutique for gifts and souvenirs within the Hôtel de Ville turns thirty this year. To celebrate, the boutique is hosting an exhibit featuring portraits of 15 talented Parisians who happen to be thirty years old.

Michèle Luce Photo Exhibit (Through November 26th): Free photo exhibit featuring the work of Michèle Luce. Discover the faces of the people of Pingyao, China, through Luce’s lens.

Mothers and Children of the World (Through November 26th): In honor of International Children’s Rights Day, the Mairie of the 5th arrondissement of Paris is hosting a free photo exhibit featuring the work of photographer Christina Drakos. The exhibit will include around thirty black and white photos taken mostly in Asia and South America.
